Drehpunktkultur.at reviews Leif Ove’s performance of Mozart in Salzburg with the Vienna Philharmonic and Thomas Hengelbrock.
“… Then Leif-Ove Andsnes walked unpretentiously to the Steinway … and conjured one of the truly greatest Mozart piano concertos, the one in D minor KV 466, with impressive, playful intelligence and many sensitive accents from the keyboard. Above all, it is the clarity and yet depth of expression which he is capable of achieving, which makes him a first class Mozart interpreter . It is a depth that always remains perceptible under the sound of a beautiful surface, in a mostly highly controlled passion, but in the best sense. Thus the wonderful romance in the tension between Italian vocality and expressive romance was ever present.”
