Hamburg, Bonn, Lucerne, Vienna, Paris, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo, London … and Bodø. Today the Nordland Music Festival (Musikkfestuka) in the north of Norway announced that Leif Ove Andsnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra will give a residency of 3 concerts performing all of Beethoven’s Piano Concertos in the new Stormen Concert Hall in Bodø on 18, 19 and 21 July 2015 adding to a schedule of residencies around the world on 4 continents. Ticket sales open today. The Bodø residency will take place in the brand new 900 seater concert hall overlooking the harbor front, designed by the British architects Daniel Rosbottom and David Howarth, which will be officially opened next month – Leif Ove will also be performing Beethoven at the open gala event on 15 November which will be broadcast nationally on NRK TV.
The 2014 / 15 season sees the completion of the 4 year project which has taken Leif Ove around the world performing Beethoven, his most recent performances being with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel. Together with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra he has recorded all of the concertos as well as the Choral Fantasy and the box set recording is released on Sony Classical next week. Reviewing the final CD in the cycle, Norway’s “Dagbladet” wrote last month: “It is in every way a milestone. The interaction between Andsnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra has been a revelation throughout, and is just as bright on this latest release in the series. With such a level of playing from the orchestra, the gains by eliminating a conductor are palpable … Yet there is never any doubt that Leif Ove Andsnes is in command, leaving his highly distinctive mark on the interpretation.”
From Bodø Leif Ove and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra will travel directly to London’s Royal Albert Hall to give the very last performances of the Beethoven Journey before the pianist returns to Norway for a well earnt summer holiday.

I dag har Nordland Musikkfestuke offentliggjort at Leif Ove Andsnes og Mahler Chamber Orchestra vil fremføre alle Beethovens klaverkonserter i Bodøs nye konserthus, Stormen, 18., 19. og 21. juli 2015 som del av en verdensomspennende turné over fire kontinenter. Billettsalget åpner i dag. Konsertene vil foregå i store sal som rommer 900 seter og hvor en kan nyte en nydelig utsikt mot Bodø havn. Stormen konserthus åpner neste måned og Leif Ove Andsnes vil da fremføre Beethoven under den offisielle åpningskonserten som skal sendes på NRK 1. I løpet av sesongen 2014/15 avsluttes Leif Ove Andsnes’ fire år lange prosjekt som har brakt han verden rundt for å framføre Beethoven. Nylig sammen med Los Angeles Philharmonic og Gustavo Dudamel. Sammen med Mahler Chamber Orchestra har han spilt inn samtlige konserter i tillegg til Korfantasien. Boksen med alle albumene slippes på Sony Classical neste uke. I sin anmeldelse av den siste platen skrev Dagbladet: “Det er på alle måter en merkestein. Samspillet mellom Andsnes og Mahler-orkestret har vært en åpenbaring, hele tiden, og er like lysende på denne siste utgivelsen i serien. Med et slik nivå i orkestret, blir gevinsten ved å eliminere dirigenten påtakelig.”
Fra Bodø reiser Leif Ove Andsnes og Mahler Chamber Orchestra direkte til Londons Royal Albert Hall for å gjøre den aller siste konserten med The Beethoven Journey før pianisten returnerer til Norge for en velfortjent sommerferie.

Leif Ove Andsnes har plukket ut det nye Steinway flygelet til Stormen, som han selv skal innvie under den offisielle åpningen 15. November. At Andsnes velger å komme til Stormen Konserthus og Nordland Musikkfestuke med Mahler Chamber Orchestra og dette unike prosjektet er en stor ære, og noe som ikke hadde vært mulig uten at det nye konserthuset ble bygget.
