Leif Ove Andsnes’ new album of Chopin is launched today on Sony Classical and the first revews have already started coming in:

Radio Classique: “Andsnes brings to Chopin his unique sensitivity, a combination of modesty and introspective virtuosity.”                                                                                                         Radio France: “This is a pianist who never fails, who never records a mediocre CD … I think the secret to his performance is the honesty of his interpretation. Andsnes has a respect, an understanding and above all a love for the music literature which propels his admiration … which is of course matched with a perfect technique, velvet sound and exceptional playing. Andsnes says that he loves Chopin and it the music he plays most often, although alongside his recordings of Schubert and Beethoven, there is just one disc of Chopin’s sonatas in his discography which he recorded early in his career. So we are delighted that he has returned to Chopin with this recording of the 4 Ballades.”
Bergens Tidende: “Brilliant: he performs the virtuoso 4 Ballades with a technical brilliance that allows the complicated narratives to shine and sparkle.”  Bergens Tidende
