It was a case of “fourth time lucky” for Leif Ove Andsnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra after three failed attempts to perform Mozart together in concert.

When Mozart Momentum was launched in 2019, Leif Ove Andsnes was obliged to cancel due to illness and the subsequent two tours in 2020 were cancelled because of covid. So it was a cause for major celebration this Autumn when the musicians were reunited for what became their first tour of the project – with residencies in Hamburg, Vienna and Brussels and additional concerts in Lisbon and Lugano.

“A blueprint for smart programming … an evening with a special magic”  – Hamburger Abendblatt, Germany

Here is a sovereign interpreter who is never at risk of confusing beauty with prettiness, rigour with dryness, sentiment with languor. And to support him in this approach which infallibly goes to the heart of the music while renouncing all external seduction, the Norwegian pianist can count on the unreserved support of the excellent Mahler Chamber Orchestra, a chamber ensemble marvellously united around its soloist and conductor.” – Crescendo Magazine, Belgium.

Mozart Momentum 1786 was recorded live in concert at the Vienna Musikverein and will be released by Sony Classical in April 2022.
