Leif Ove Andsnes has been chosen as one of five remarkable artists to receive honorary doctorates from the Juilliard School this year. The doctorates will be conferred at the conservatory’s 111th Commencement Exercises on Friday, May 20, when the Norwegian pianist looks forward to joining his fellow honorees – actress and Juilliard alumna Christine Baranski; jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter; actress Cicely Tyson; and former dancer, Alvin Ailey II Artistic Director Emerita, and Juilliard alumna Sylvia Waters – at New York’s Alice Tully Hall.
The ceremony will stream live at live.juilliard.edu from 11am on Friday, May 20.
