Leif Ove Andsnes has been named an Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Music as part of the institution’s 2026 honours.
The Academy announced the annual awards today, recognising leading figures from across the music profession, including performers, composers, educators and conductors. Honorary Membership is reserved for outstanding musicians who did not study at the Academy and is limited to 300 recipients.
Leif Ove Andsnes joins a distinguished group of 2026 honourees that includes soprano Louise Alder, conductor Elim Chan, choral conductor Harry Christophers, and violinists Vilde Frang and Elena Urioste. Additionally Sir Trevor Nunn receives an Honorary Doctorate from the Academy.
