As Sony Classical prepares to release the second of three installments of the Beethoven Journey this month on disc, Leif Ove sets sail on a 19 city solo recital tour with an all Beethoven programme. Central to the programme is Beethoven’s Appasionata sonata which is coupled with Sonata No 11 in B flat major, Sonata No 30 in E major and the Variations in F major.

Starting this week in his hometown of Haugsund on the west coast island of Norway Leif Ove goes on to perform in Copenhagen, Brussels, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Toulouse, Berlin, Stockholm, London and Cologne in the next couple of weeks. Then its on to the USA with recitals in Atlanta, Chicago, Princeton, New York before he returns to Europe for the last leg of performances in Vienna, Rome and Florence.

Whilst legendry venues such as Berlin’s Philharmonie, London’s Barbican, New York’s Carnegie Hall and Vienna’s Musik Verein all feature on the recital tour, it was Haugesund which was perhaps the most personally important venue for Leif Ove on this tour as it is the first time in 30 years that he has given a solo recital in his home town.  Local TV news HTV caught up with Leif as he warmed up on Norway’s west coast island and remembered his last Haugesund recital, aged 14.
