Bloomberg’s Businessweek has just returned from an extended visit to the Salzburg Festival, ostensibly to check out the opera scene and to interview Alexander Pereira about his first season as Intendant. Jeremy Gerard covers “The Magic Flute”, “Carmen” and much more but his last sentence says it all … “The best thing I saw during a week of festival going was in the Grosses Festspielhaus, the big theater, where pianist Leif Ove Andsnes played a program of Beethoven sonatas, Chopin and Debussy with dazzling technique and subtle passion.
