The NHK Symphony Orchestra – Japan’s most famous professional orchestra – announced that Leif Ove Andsnes has been voted the Most Memorable Soloist of 2016 alongside Russian pianist Dennis Matsuev. The voting comes from the audience who particularly appreciated Leif Ove’s performances of Schumann’s Piano Concerto with the NHK Symphony Orchestra conducted by David Zinmann last November at the NHK hall in Tokyo.

This is the second time in the prize’s 20 year history that Leif Ove has been chosen as Most Memorable Soloist and for him, every return visit to Japan is memorable and special – a country and a culture he is passionate about.
