When the Bergen Festival announced earlier this month that they would be going ahead with this year’s annual festival with a re-imagined programme of 60 different events, the world cheered them on. Tonight the Festival launches and joining the Bergen Philharmonic and Ed Gardner on stage are a line up of star Norwegian artists including Leif Ove Andsnes.

Between 20 May and 3 June Andsnes will perform 5 diferent programmes all of which will be available to watch live on the Bergen Festival website.

“Like all other artists I have had dozens of concerts cancelled this spring” commented Andsnes. “In this situation I am especially grateful to be invited by Festspillene i Bergen, in my home city, to take part in their extensive online festival programme. In the chamber programmes I am collaborating with the wonderful young musicians connected to the Crescendo programme, where I am one of the mentors. I can`t wait to work again with Sonoko Miriam Welde, Ludvig Gudim, Eivind Ringstad, Amalie Stalheim and Sandra Lied Haga. We are lucky to have Mari Eriksmoen joining us with different groups of songs in these programmes.”
