Leif Ove Andsnes– “a pianist of magisterial elegance, power and insight” (New York Times) – returns to North America in the New Year for a solo recital tour. With a colorful new program of Schumann’s Three Romances and Carnaval, Janáček’s On an Overgrown Path, and Bartók’s Three Burlesques, this takes him to Boston (Jan 18), La Jolla (Jan 20), San Francisco (Jan 22), Montreal (Jan 26), Chicago (Jan 27), and New York’s Carnegie Hall (Jan 24). The tour follows the success of Andsnes’s fall release, Chopin: Ballades & Nocturnes, which has just been named one of the “Best Classical Albums of 2018” (WQXR) and nominated for an International Classical Music Award. As for February’s two-piano Stavinsky album, recorded with Marc-André Hamelin, this just scored the celebrated Norwegian pianist his ninth Grammy nomination.
